Christopher was born on a rainy day in June, 2007. He's our second child, 21 months younger than his big sister Maddy. When he was 8 days old we learned that he has multiple congenital heart defects. He had surgery to repair the most serious defects and is monitored regularly. He will require surgeries in the future as some of his heart defects are considered "progressive". Christopher is stable and we are thankful everyday that we are able to say that and recognize the gift that it is to be able to call your heart kid "stable".
Chris has severe reflux and some serious oral aversions. He struggled with weight gain and hydration and was called failure to thrive for the first 2 years of his life. At age 2 he had a g-tube placed and it made a huge difference to him and to us. Recently Chris has begun to eat and is no longer using the g-tube for nutrition! We're hoping to have it removed summer 2010 and plan to celebrate this huge milestone with a "no more tube" party.
